A RESOLUTION PROMOTING GOODWILL AND MUTUAL RESPECT AND CONDEMNING RACISM AND DISCRIMINATION IN COLORADO SPRINGS

I will keep an open mind. I will make decisions based on information or facts received and from my own research. I am not afraid to alter my position, if I receive new or additional information that would cause a need for me to change my opinion. The decisions I make will be in the best interest of Colorado Springs citizens.

Not that I personally and knowingly have done.
Question 4: In the past, what LGBT related events, activities, or organizations have you participated in or been a member of or are currently a member of?

Question 5:What do you think are the top three issues facing the LGBT community that can be addressed by City government?

Until now I have not been in a position to consider the issues facing the LGBT community that City government need to address. As a member of City Council, I hope we will have an open and fair discussion of all issues.
Question 6:If you indeed support the LGBT community, and you are elected, how would you deal with other council members who are not for equality for all Americans?

My goal is to create an atmosphere of communication and cooperation to work on each individual issue.
Question 7: Should you receive an endorsement from an organization or person who is recognized as being anti-LGBT, what will be your response?

I am concerned in doing what are in the best interest of Colorado Springs and it citizens. I will work with all organizations that are interested on improving all facets of Colorado Springs.
Question 8: Do you believe that same-sex couples should enjoy the same rights, benefits and responsibilities as their heterosexual counterparts?

Until nowI have not been in a position have an impact on or be concerned about this issue. However, if I am elected to City Council, I will have to gather the facts and establish a position on this issue.
Question 9: How do you see the city council's role in ensuring equality for its LGBT citizens?

Treat all citizens the same as an individual and with respect.
Question 10:Changing the perception of Colorado Springs being such a conservative and unfriendly place towards the LGBT community as well as other minorities seems to be a monumental challenge. What are some ways the city of Colorado Springs and City Council could be more inclusive and welcoming for the LGBT citizens?
